Boost — Finance API Adapter
A production integration service between our in-house CRM and vehicle-finance provider APIs, which automated work the sales team used to do by hand.
Result
Cut the sales team's finance-processing time by more than half.
01
Problem
Finance quotes needed a lot of manual handling. Each one depends on the finance product, the type of customer, how each provider's API behaves, and the regulations that apply. The sales team was reconciling all of that by hand.
02
What I built
- An adapter layer between the CRM and external finance systems, with each provider's quirks hidden behind one internal interface.
- The business and compliance rules that decide how each quote is handled.
- Structured logging, monitoring and automated internal audit checks.
- The deployment and operational tooling, and the integration back into the CRM.
03
Business & regulatory logic
Without going into confidential detail, the service has to tell apart personal and sole-trader customers from limited companies and other entities, PCH from CH products, and regulated from unregulated agreements, then apply the right commission rules to each. Getting this right is as much about understanding the business as it is about the code.
04
Working with a provider
When prices didn't match between systems, I worked directly with the Lloyds Lex Autolease API team to track down the discrepancies and understand how their integration behaves.
05
Reliability
Failures here cost the sales team time, so the service is built to surface them quickly: structured logs, monitoring, and audit checks that flag anything unexpected. It runs on a self-hosted VPS, deployed through Coolify.
